natural gems

When I was a teenager my parents took our family on a family vacation to find agates in a forest. I hated it and wishes we were in Florida like all the other families... We never found any- now I wish we could go back. These close ups are amazing!

Another Dreamy Video

I talked to my friend Abby today and she insisted that I watch this Vanessa Bruno video. I've watched it before but forgot how amazing it is. Check out her post after you watch the video. It's insane how these videos can make the clothing come to life!

LA Flea Market

There is going to be a new flea market taking place at Dodger Stadium. The best part about it is that they will hold your goods until you are done shopping and they will also have a delivery service (one thing I think is lacking from the Rose Bowl!)

The grand opening will be on July 18th. Check out the details in the LA Times and on the L.A. Flea Market website.

Looks like it will be a once a month event with the next 2 scheduled Flea Markets for August 29th and September 26th.

David Lynch Interview Project

I learned about David Lynch's Interview Project from my friend Jason about a year ago. His interviews with regular, random folks on a full trip around the USA and back are so addicting. I just checked back to see if they were still doing it and found out that they just wrapped up the final interview in Topanga Canyon. Mr. Lynch is big into Transcendental Meditation and I noticed he stopped over in Fairfax, Iowa. This is a very small town in Iowa where the Transcendental Meditation people live side by side with some straight up small-town, gun wielding hicks. Check out this interview from Fairfax (if only they had interviewed a 'local' too...)

Abby's a comin to town!

couldn't resist a photoshoot with the gift I was supposed to give Abby when I was in NYC... ow ow! abby now you can't flake on coming to see the house! your GIFT is waiting!!!!!

Chair re-do Part 1

It's my first time re-upholstering a chair. This danish modern chair seemed like a good place to start. The chair is fairly simple with a wooden base that I have already cleaned and wax treated the wood. On Saturday my sister and I stripped off the webbing that was sagging and cracking and replaced it with new Jute webbing. We were able to save the original decorative nails - which you'll see in the last photo. Right now I'm working on cutting and sewing the fabric for the cushions and will post some more pics once thats done!

Skull Phone Show

Subliminal Projects has a new show up by Skull Phone. All of the pieces look like light up installations but are actually made by hand painted dots on a metal base. Check it out! The opening is tomorrow night June 5th.

Colors

beautiful colors... I would love my entire summer wardrobe to be made from these accessories from Malababa.

Swim Team

Tonight I'm finally going back to swim team at the Rose Bowl... such a beautiful day for a swim. Oak NYC has just launched swim product- love this simple black one piece. And the pendelton towels at Urban Outfitters are so awesome... tgif :)
